Grant Betts Medical Fund

As most of you know, Grant suffers from a hereditary disease known as polycystic kidneys and has been on dialysis for the past 10 years. He has been on the transplant list for most of that time and recently been removed from the list because of several health issues.
In August 2015, Grant was hospitalized with what was thought to be a kidney infection and again in October 2015 with the same symptoms. It was eventually determined that his diseased kidneys were causing that ongoing infection and that is why he was not responding to the medications.
After several months of doctor's visits and testings, it was determined that his kidneys and liver are so enlarged and if he is ever to be eligible for a transplant, the only option would be to remove at least one of his kidneys.
Grant received a phone call recently from his doctor in Halifax informing him that the  surgery will take place on April 21st. The surgery is expected to be a lengthy one with a recovery time of 5 to 6 weeks. If all goes well he will then be put back on the transplant list.
