Steve’s Road to Recovery
My brother Steve Gerardi suffered a global traumatic brain injury caused by a fall in late September.  He was in MedStar Washington Hospital Center ICU for 5 weeks, fighting for his life.  He is currently in a skilled nursing facility making slow progress towards gaining enough strength so he can transition his recovery time at home with his wife Martina and daughter Sylvie.  Although Steve has health insurance, we know that it will not cover all his medical expenses, the cost of long-term rehabilitation and home care.  This has created a serious financial hardship on the family and will affect his ability to work during his recovery.
