As many of you know, Wesley and I have been trying to conceive our own child for almost 3 years now.
In March of 2012 we started this journey and we never could have imagined that it would take us where we are today.
I was diagnosed with an anovulatory disorder and started treatment right away. We first started with Clomid to help me ovulate and after a few rounds of that we learned that IUI would be our best bet because of the way my body responded to the medication.
After 2 IUIs we were beyond excited to see our very first positive pregnancy test! This joy would soon turn to heartbreak after our second ultrasound where they couldn't detect a heartbeat.
After a surgery to remove the pregnancy, we were ready to start again!
Our doctor said that first time miscarriages are actually quite common and to keep trying IUI because chances of a successful pregnancy were very high.
Well...after 5 more IUIs we were blessed with another positive pregnancy test! Only this time the excitement was very short lived...the pregnancy ended with another miscarriage.
We opted to do serveral tests to try to find a reason for our recurrent miscarriages but no such answers were to be found. All of my blood work came back normal.
We stayed positive though, and were ready to jump back in and hopefully have our take home baby!
After just one more IUI that didn't result in a pregnancy we were hit with a huge decision on whether or not to continue down the IUI path.
If we were to continue IUI, our chances of another miscarriage would be roughly 33%. A 1 in 3 chance of losing another baby. It is just a number that were arent comfortable with.
So now the next step is IVF. It will greatly increase our chances of bringing our miracle baby home and to us...that is worth it.
So now we turn to you all for help. The IVF process is very costly!!! Between $11,500 and $14,000 for just a single round.
Tricare doesn't cover anything except our doctor visits so we are having to pay for most of this out of pocket.
