A few months back, new helmets and shoulder pads for the Kooker Park Pop Warner football teams were stolen from a secured storage unit. It costs about $100 to buy replacement equipment for one child's use, and there are more than 70 children on these teams. The Rev. Harry Williams II is a hard-working pastor and youth mentor who runs the East Jacksonville 501(c)3 organization (Men In And Out Of Schools ) that sponsors these teams and other athletic and mentoring programs for inner-city children. He's been instrumental in revitalizing Henry L. Brown Kooker Park to make it a safe place for children, and his group sponsors three Pop Warner football teams that are eager to start practice. If you are a generous soul who is thinking about buying school supplies for needy children this time of year, won't you consider perhaps also making a donation to replace some of this equipment so kids on these teams don't miss out on the 2015 Pop Warner season?
