Donation protected

Casey and Nic have found a bed for Kolt!!!...It is so rare to find this particular bed in good, used condition..It is in Detroit Michigan which is about 16 hours from home... They like about $1000 to purchase the bed and help pay for expenses to travel and get it....It must be picked up this weekend...May 20th....We are so excited to finally be able to provide a safe sleeping enviromnent that Kolt desparately needs. Any amount you can give, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.......Thanks to all that donated before.....and God bless you all....Please share, share, share!!!!

As most of you know, Kolt Adams was born with CHARGE Syndrome in 2013. He has undergone more than 15 surgeries and will, undoubtly, have to have more. Kolt faces daily struggles with both health and developmental issues such as Chronic Lung Disease, deaf/blindness, global development delays, feeding intolerances, and much more, but yet, he is one of the happiest children I have ever been blessed to know.

Please go  HERE ‌ to learn more about CHARGE Syndrome.
In short,   "It is an extremely complex syndrome, involving extensive medical and physical difficulties that differ from child to child. The vast majority of the time, there is no history of CHARGE syndrome or any other similar conditions in the family. Babies with CHARGE syndrome are often born with life-threatening birth defects, including complex heart defects and breathing problems. They spend many months in the hospital and undergo many surgeries and other treatments. Swallowing and breathing problems make life difficult even when they come home. Most have hearing loss, vision loss, and balance problems which delay their development and communication. All are likely to require medical and educational intervention for many years. Despite these seemingly insurmountable obstacles, children with CHARGE syndrome often far surpass their medical, physical, educational, and social expectations."

Kolt is now 4 years old and getting too big for his baby bed. His mother and father, Nic and Casey Adams, are having difficulties providing the care Kolt requires, in a safe and effective environment. Kolt needs a medical bed like shown in the picture but insurance will not pay for one and can cost, new, up to $10,000 and more. Finding a used bed like this for sale is rare, but on occasion, Casey has found them costing anywhere from $3,000 to $6000+. Because these beds are so large, it is typically expected of the purchaser to arrange to pickup the bed at the seller's location, which can mean that even if one is found for sale, large costs will be incurred either by traveling or arranging to have to bed shipped.

You can go  HERE ‌  or HERE ‌ or to see all the many ways this family would benifit from having one of these beds. Not only will they be better equipped to handle Kolt's daily needs, but this bed will also help keep Kolt safe for many years to come.

Since January 1990, FDA has received 102 reports of head and body entrapment incidents involving hospital bed side rails. The 68 deaths, 22 injuries, and 12 entrapments without injury occurred in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and private homes. - Sleepsafe Beds

The 7 Zones of Entrapments as defined by the FDA.

"To increase safety, the SleepSafe® Bed design has addressed the gaps in all seven zones."

Due to all of Kolt's medical equipment, supplies, and daily needs, Nic and Casey have recently moved Kolt from his previous area of in their  home, (roughly a 6ftx9ft closet in their bedroom), to a larger room. They are not only hoping to be able to accommodate the bed, but also are looking to create a "work space", within the room, which will allow them better access to Kolt for daily treatments, during times of sickness, and also in emergency situations.

The bed pictured, has actually just recently arrived at the home of one of our fellow CHARGE family. Jessie, Carson's mother, has allowed us to use his photos and story in hopes that it will others understand how important this bed can be for families, and of course it never hurts to raise a little CHARGE Syndrome awareness too.

Carson was born with CHARGE Syndrome, and just like our Kolt, has faced many medical and developmental challenges as well. He is 4 now and doing well. Jessie and Carson, and their story have been such a blessing and an inspiration to our family . You can check out more about Carson HERE .

Please help Nic and Casey raise the funds so they can adapt Kolt's new room to better accommodate all of his needs.  I hope to well surpass the goal I have set to better help offset their costs.

Any amount you can give will make a difference for this very grateful family.  God bless you all and thank you!
