The Kolenc Family suffered severe damage to their home during Hurricane Florence. Not only was this their first home purchase, but they had also invested 20k in renovations prior to the hurricane.
The Kolencs purchased their home on 7/6/2018 and were forced to evacuate on 9/11/2018.
The estimated damages include, but are not limited to: water damage to entire east side of home (master bed/bath, laundry room, living room and hallway); linens; all electronics; refrigerator; living room furniture; food; and the ceiling in the living room has collapsed. They were without power for over 12 days and are still on a boil notice for use of city water.
My sister’s husband is currently on the west coast conducting a training operation for the Untied States Marine Corp. and is not able to return until the end of October.
My sister, Deanna, Maxwell, my 3 year old nephew and their & two family dogs have been staying at a hotel for 14 days; by the time they are able to voyage back and see what the hurricane has left them with; they’re looking at 18 days in a hotel.
At this point the estimated cost is unknown due to the adjusters not being able to get to the house and inspect until 9/29; stating that it could take 10+ days from their inspection before they’ll have an exact amount on what insurance will cover.
They are currently out of pocket for hotel expenses, food, and now for the rental home they’ll live in while renovations / repairs are being made to the home.
