On the 8th of June a group of us will be heading to Papua New Guinea to trek the Kokoda track. This group includes Lucy Minh, Ben Piper, Mike Turner, Dave Kaczor, Anthony Hattersley, Rhys Shannon, Lucas Kull, Ben Jenke, Ben Norval, Elliot Milne and myself.
We will be trekking 96km over 9 days through the jungles across the Owen Stanley Ranges and in doing so also raising money for MND research through the FightMND foundation.
Founded in 2014, FightMND was established with the purpose of finding effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is the name given to a group of diseases in which the nerve cells (neurones) controlling the muscles that enable us to move around, speak, swallow and breathe fail to work normally and eventually die. With no nerves to activate them the muscles gradually weaken and waste.
Our trip is fully paid and funds raised will go to the FightMND foundation and also the SolarBuddy charity which helps local children in PNG fight energy poverty.
Motor Neurone Disease is close to my heart and any level of support is greatly appreciated.

FightMND's core aim is to generate greater awareness of the disease, to fund world-class research and drug trials to find an effective treatment and ultimately a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.
There is no known cause, limited knowledge of the natural course of the disease, there is no effective treatment and there is no cure.

Energy poverty condemns billions to darkness, ill health, unfulfilled futures and repeated cycles of poverty. (UN)
The gift of a SolarBuddy solar light helps children living in energy poverty to continue studying long after the sun goes down improving their education outcomes and overall health and wellbeing.
