Our Koko Family Pup was hit by a car this evening!
Her leg snapped in half and was left hanging, barley attached, by her fur and skin. The bone was completely exposed and blood was everywhere.
Please don't give up on Koko!
Koko was being loaded into our truck to go with my sons (10 & 11 years old) and husband to go to Rugby practice, as usual. She goes everywhere with our family and I mean EVERYWHERE.
As she began her motion into the vehicle, she spotted a Black CAT!
Koko had her leash and collar on, but as she continued to jump into the back seat of the truck, the cat flew right by her. She decided to bail out of the vehicle and darted for the cat, which was already headed across the street by that time. It all happened so fast!
The distance from our parked truck to the road was less than 2 feet away because we had parked on the street.
THANK YOU GOD!
The driver seen the black cat running and began to slow down. As he reduced speed our Koko and the car collided. It was a Honda Civic and it was low to the ground.
Koko's leg snapped in half immediately and she let loose a horrid yelp and ran towards our closed garage! Her leg was left hanging (barley attached) by her fur and skin. The bone was completely exposed and her blood was and still is everywhere!
My boys began praying and became frantic and shaky. I never want for this to happen to anyone again!
We're going insane worrying about our baby! On top of all the drama, we found out that it was going to be $2,500 to stay overnight at the vet hospital.
OMG, all I want to do is make sure my baby gets what she needs ASAP. The vet does NOT accept payment plans, only cash or credit cards.
Finally, after 3 hours of negotiations, we were able to come to a financial decision, but again, only for overnight. We gave them every penny we had to ensure she stayed to get the care she needs. She's getting antibiotics, pain meds, and IV fluids through the night.
Tomorrow, we still need to figure out how to get 3 X-rays (tonight is touchy because we didn't have enough money for them. So the Vet tech said they would keep an eye on her, but anything could happen because they don't know what's going on inside her chest, belly, and leg!
I feel so broken at this point! NOT being able to take care of our baby and this is life and death!
My 10 year old son looked in my eyes before he went to bed, with his arms over my shoulders and made me PROMISE to do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO MAKE HER BETTER. HE ASKED ME NOT TO GIVE UP.
I looked into his eyes and promised. This is exactly what I'm going to do!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Help, anything will be amazing!
