Nevis Hometown Hero Lowell Koebnick needs help

Donation protected
We are trying to raise funds to assist with life and medical Bill's and near future funeral expenses.

Let me introduce you to my dad.

Lowell Koebnick is a local hero to many.
Growing up in a small northern Minnesota community with him as a father we were blessed.

Lowell worked hard all of his life and served the Nevis community in law enforcement for more than 40 years.

He began as a deputy when I was a child and moved forward to become the Chief of Police for more than 20 years.
After retiring he decided the leisure life was not for him and returned to the Hubbard county sheriff's department.
At 75 he lost his bladder to cancer, but after kicking cancer the first time, continued to work as a part time boat and water officer until he turned 80.

He was known everywhere for being a caring and fair officer.  He told me once that he was very proud to have only had to pull his weapon once in his entire career.

He was very active in other ways for the community as well, teaching gun safety for many years and is to be awarded for 50 years of gun safety service this summer.
In his 70s he recertified for cold water rescue!  How many of us would jump through holes in the ice in our 20s, much less our 70s!

Unfortunately his battle with cancer returned last year.  He told us that he'd do "whatever it takes".  And after months of chemo and radiation treatments was declared cancer free once again.

Unfortunately, the morning of his 84th birthday, we received news that it returned with a vengeance and treatment is no longer an option.

He will be returning home soon to spend his remaining time with family on the 80 acres of land he so proudly was able to purchase when we were children.

Unfortunately with the medical Bill's that were paid and the distraction of his treatments, the land is deeply mortgaged and still there are many unpaid bills.

We are praying that with all of the lives he has touched over his long and productive life, some of that will be returned to help us save the farm, pay remaining bills and care for his partially handicapped wife who suffered a heart attack and stroke a couple of years ago and has not fully recovered.

If we are blessed with an overabundance of donations, we would like to use extra funds to create a small nature area for the community around the shore of daisy lake that borders the farm property in the memory of our parents... we hope to create nature trails in the area to enjoy the quiet lake shore and the loons, swans, herons and other birds that return to the lake annually, along with perhaps spotting the occasional beaver that live in the small lake.

Giving can help us as well as the community Lowell served for so many years.

We would also love to hear your personal stories about your experiences with Lowell.
This will help us all build and retain these precious memories.
