Calico's gall bladder surgery bill

Around December 30th, 2014, Calico was admitted to the emergency room due to an ongoing illness and pain in her abdomen. For the first 2 weeks the doctors were unsure what was the trouble until a few tests came in. The source of the problem was her gall bladder, or more specifically, what was left of it. Gall stones had passed though her gall bladder, one lodging inside the gall bladder itself. This caused the bladder to swell but instead of bursting, it dissolved in on itself, collapsing, and calcifying to the surrounding organs and tissues. Once it had dissolved itself, the infection was released upon the rest of the abdominal cavity, spreading rapidly without much sign or warning.

Earlier in the year she suffered severe chest pains but the underlying cause of said pains wasn't discovered until much later, long after the infection had spread. The doctors realize now the chest pain had been the initial warning sign of the gall bladder in distress.

An emergency surgery was scheduled and she went under to remove the infected tissues. 3 hours and 3 pints of lost blood later, the infection had been removed. The incision had to be made from her hip bone up to her sternum because of how far the infection had spread.


The white is the infection that had to be scraped from the remaining tissues. According to the doctor, it was the worst case he had ever seen and that she shouldn't have been alive (or wouldn't have been much longer...).

It will take at least 6 months of rest and time for her to recover fully, preventing her from working properly to cover the bills.

I've started this GoFundMe in hopes of helping alleviate  the strains of bills and possibly, just possibly, help make enough to cover the cost of the surgery itself.
