Bucks To Save Beaux

Please find it in your heart to help. The night after Christmas I found an abandoned Chocolate Lab in a ditch on a lonely country road in 29 deg temp. We just briefly happened to see some eye shine in the headlights and as we angled towards it and got closer we discovered an injured, near death, beautiful Lab. He had apparently been hit by a car weeks earlier. I could not leave him there so I took him and fed n watered him, and made him a bed. He's such a good dog and very loyal. Took him to my vet, and he said the dog is only 1-11/2 yrs old but too far gone with what he thought was advanced heart worm damage and only had 2-5 months to live. He was within days of dying when I found him. I fell for this dog quickly, so I sought a second opinion and got a referral to take him to a cutting edge clinic, the Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine, where they found that when he was hit by a car months ago, in addition to his broken hip and leg it also ruptured his diaphragm which caused his intestines to move into his chest cavity, causing the appearance of advanced heart worm. It is impeding his ability to breathe normally, eat normally, it's stressing his heart, and a host of other issues. It initially gave the appearance that his heart was enlarged due to advanced heart worms, but was in fact the intestines being crammed up against his heart and lungs. The good news is, the heart worms ARE treatable, also the diaphragmatic hernia can be repaired with surgery, but will cost $5500. Then I have to spend $877 on heart worm treatment. I already have $1100 in Beaux now. It's a tough call, but as a dog lover I know you understand that you just can't say no. He can have many great years ahead if we can get this procedure done. He knows that I saved him and he won't leave my side. His leg and hip are healing ok, but time is against us, as the longer we wait the more adhesion takes place within his internal organs. He's such a good dog and has suffered so much in his short life so far. I'm hoping and praying we can get this surgery done and it gets him back to normal again. $5500+ is very steep for me, so I am going to try a small fundraising, "Bucks to save Beaux." If I can get at least 20 people to donate $100, I will pay the remaining $3500. I hate to ask, but if you or you know of anyone who would like to donate, please do. Checks can be made out to: MSU-AHC, (Mississippi State University-Animal Health Center), with Beaux in the memo line. Much thanks!
