Archie's Cancer Surgery/Vet Bills

"1/14/2015 About 13 months ago, I took this guy for a walk for the first time. He was known as Blanket Boy then, because he had a penchant for tearing things up. My first foster dog, he came to live with me in June. With the assistance and advice of a great team of amazing volunteers, staff, administrators; as well as family, friends, neighbors, patients, colleagues, pet store employees and more, Archie is totally different than when he first appeared on the scene almost 18 months ago; he also was finally approved for adoption yesterday. I can't imagine life without him. So, you're looking at the newest member of my family - 75 pounds of solid, wacky love. Thank you to everyone who has helped us both get here and cheers to a new year full of new beginnings and new adventures for us all"

Unfortunately, when Pamela took Archie in for his check up, (provided by Seattle Animal Shelter when you adopt an animal), a mast cell tumor was discovered on Archie’s head. His surgery is scheduled today, 1/22/15. Pamela’s been warned there will probably be disfiguration; since he has such a big ol’ head and they are going to take a pretty big piece of it (they try to give fairly wide margins) his head will be asymmetric.

They are also going to check his lymph nodes for mast cells. If they find any there they will refer him to a specialist and do further grading of the tumor, which will also be biopsied. The results from the lymph nodes should be back Saturday; the biopsy results probably not til Monday or Tuesday…

This is where Archie’s friends and fan’s come in. Unexpected vet bills are one thing, but catastrophic care bills are another… Let’s all show our love and support for Pamela and Archie and help with Archie’s cancer care and follow up surgeries (if needed).
