Kelly Shannon's Medical Fund

Kelly Shannon, age 59, has been working as the water manager for irrigation districts in the Wood River Valley of Idaho.  On December 15, 2014, Kelly was working on the canal system that delivers water from the Big Wood River to the ranches, residences and farms in the Bellevue Triangle of Blaine County.  Kelly was  burning weeds that had grown during the irrigation season in preparation for the 2015 irrigation season, when the wind changed, and he was set on fire.  Kelly suffered serious burns to his right hand and both legs.

Kelly was flown to the burn center at the University of Utah hospital, where he has undergone three skin graft surgeries.  Unfortunately, Kelly suffered a heart attack as he was regaining consciousness from the third surgery, and two stints were required.  At that time, the doctors discovered that Kelly also would require open heart bypass surgery in the future.  Kelly is currently in a rehabilitation center, and he should learn this week if he will require another skin graft surgery.  Due to the burns, Kelly has lost part of his thumb and his index finger on his major hand, his right hand, and he has also suffered burns on both legs extending below the knee on his right leg.

Kelly has insurance for his necessary open heart surgery.  However, the insurance has a $5,000 deductible, and the requested funds are sought to meet that deductible and other expenses, such as housing for his wife, during the process.
