Knitting is Metal Flood Emergency
Knitting is Metal is a homebrew online craft store started in 2017. Based on the idea that knitting is for everyone, I started my store with the idea that you can love Metal, horror, and knitting. Over the years I dedicated countless hours into designing branded clothes, working with small yarn businesses to promote their awesome products, and even showcased at popular events, both knitting related and not. Everything was always done from my house - I packed thousands of orders by hand. In one night, my work was washed out in a flood.
Our entire road in Port Chester was flooded out last night in the Hurricane Ida aftermath. Water rose over three feet in the middle of the night (in a part of NY that never floods). By the time I got downstairs to see what happened, I saw everything floating. It was like a surreal nightmare. Mike and I rushed out at one point in our pajamas to stop the flooding water from burst through one of our doors.
the morning aftermath has brought a lot of sadness. Not only did we lose a lot of personal items, including old keepsakes and mementos from his childhood, we also lost Yarn, tee shirts, mugs, packing supplies, and pretty much everything that keeps the store going.
we don’t have flood insurance because we never experienced flooding in either of our lives. So I’m at a bit of a loss and frankly, broken hearted.
Anything you can do to help would be appreciated. The funds would go to repurchasing all lost stock and rebuilding my packing area which was completely destroyed.
