Knight Family Fund

June 24, 2015: The Deer Park Fire Department recieved the call to respond to a family filled home that erupted into flames around 11:45pm. Shortly after my phone rang where my brother then began to tell me that my parents house is burning down. 

 
My mom was away at work, and my dad and two brothers were laying down in they're beds sleeping. My father was then woken up by a loud pop on the front porch. He looked out of his bedroom window and saw a flickering glow coming from the porch just out of eye site. Thinking it was a prank from some neighborhood kids he grabbed a wet towel and went to go check. As he rounded the corner to the entry hall way the faint flickering glow got brighter and brighter. Getting closer he leaned over to look out the window next to the front door. The porch was engulfed in flames. He stepped back and opened the door to my older brothers room and yelled to him to, "get up, the house is on fire." He then ran to the back of the house where my 6 year old brother's room was and pulled him from his bed. My dad and two brothers made it safely out the back door where they then had to kick the padlocked gate open so they could get to a safe distance away from the house to call 911.
       

After I got the call from my brother I quickly got into my car and rushed over to the house I grew up in, my home.
When I arrived the firefighters were already there battling the blaze while my family and I could only watch while our memories went up in fire, smoke, and ash. 




After everything is said and done, we are greatful to the DPFD for risking their lives to help complete stangers and stopping the fire before it got worse.

The fire is out, and a few days have gone by. It has been a devastating time as they have lost everything, including vehicles. My parents and brothers have had small amounts of clothes donated and plenty of love and support.
I am trying to raise this money to help them with everyday life while they battle and wait for the insurance claim to go through.
My parents have done so much for me during my life and continue to do so much. This is just one small way that I can try to help them for everything they have done.
The most important things in life are family. And I will do what I can to help mine.
