Knight's Surgery Costs

Donation protected
Update 3#

The Biopsy Results are in:

The Results are in and Knight Does Not Have Cancer and Never had Cancer!  He is healthy and ready to return to work once his surgery scar heals.  Hopefully he can be un-retired, a dog like Knight craves the job of serving and protecting.

Thank you again for everyone's help in spreading the word.

Update #2
Thank you everyone for spreading Knight’s story. We raised all of the money in just under 30 hours since this page went live. Now that we have reached our goal, it's time to shut down the donation collections. I have spoken with Knight’s family and they are so grateful and humbled by the outpouring of support for Knight that so many have shown. Knight is starting to get back to his normal self which includes grabbing his tennis ball and dropping it into anyone’s lap in hopes of starting a game of fetch. That game of fetch will have to wait a few more weeks but we are happy to say that Knight’s personality is coming out strong. This page will be updated periodically with updates about Knight’s recovery. Again, Knight’s family wants to thank everyone for their generosity and kindness.

Update #1
WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!!!!  Thank you, I will provide an update later this evening.  I need to figure out how to shut down the donations link later tonight.  Please feel free to share this feel good story but no more donations are needed at this time.

Meet Knight

               Occupation: Explosives Detection Canine

Career: 4 Years with Marines, Served 2 tours in Afghanistan protecting U.S. Marines in hostile environment and 4 years as a Police K9 protecting our citizens locally.

Knight had to suddenly retire from active duty as he needed emergency surgery to remove a tumor to save his life. Knight is at home and doing well after his surgery and just like we expect from our Marine hero, he was standing and eating within 24 hours. Knight's future outlook for a healthy life moving forward looks great, he has many years of life ahead of him.

Knight's K9 handler/partner has officially adopted Knight as a full member of his family but Knight has already lived in his handlers home for the past 4 years while serving our local community as an explosives canine. Since the department officials made the decision to not  approve funds for this necessary procedure to save Knight's life, the speedy adoption was needed to avoid having Knight euthanized.  Once the adoption was completed, Knight's handler now had the authority to authorize the surgery.

In order to save Knight's life, my good friend is now responsible for all of Knight's healthcare costs for the surgery and all costs moving forward. The surgery and rehab will cost approximately $2400. I would also like to raise an additional $500 for my friend as a contingency fund to cover any unforeseen extra costs that may be associated with Knights recovery.

Thanks to everyone who can help and please share this page with family and friends.
