Hey cuties...
Knife Talk has now reached over 100 shows. Thats around 200 hours of tips, knife stories, beefs and (just one or two) bad jokes. Knife Talk has become the biggest knife related podcast out there and we know it keeps a lot of you company in your shops, sheds and studios. We see it as an honour to be making the show for you.
It is time to for us to take things up a level and give the show the attention it deserves.
It is amazing that we are achieving around 50,000 listeners per episode on a setup that is held together with sticky tape. Craig records in his kitchen and has to throw his family out for the day, Geoff records in his sweaty jeep parked up in his shop and Mareko is in a dark basement somewhere, with creaky floorboards and running water just above his head. All three of us use cheap mics and old computers. It's cool to be punk rock, but it ain't easy.
At the moment, a typical show takes around 8 hours to prepare, record, edit, upload and promote - this just isn't sustainable.
Every week we are getting messages of support form our listeners and we want to be making a better show - something more polished that we are proud to put out each week. All three of us love doing the show, and we have big plans to make things even better in the future.
You know what you should do?
So we want to up our game - we want the audio to be better, we want to streamline our workflow, we want the show to be slicker and we want to make it easier to have guests on the show without having audio that sucks.
With your help, we can be using broadcast quality microphones, acoustically treat our environments, have a dedicated machine for backups and editing, have a facility for guests to 'dial in' with great audio and finally have reliable connections - avoiding those nasty cut outs where one of us goes missing in action in the middle of podcast. In short, we can give the podcast the love and attention it deserves.
