Open Doors to Ceramics at Wesleyan

Donation protected
Hello all! We are raising money for the Wesleyan University Clay Club to open an on-campus studio. Doing so will significantly increase the number of students that get to enjoy ceramics. Until now, we have been graciously hosted by a local Middletown ceramics studio, and we plan to continue this cherished partnership in the semesters to come. However, relying solely on this studio means that we can only admit 15 people out of the hundreds that apply each semester to be in Clay Club. It also means that Clay Club leaders pay out of pocket for clay, since the Wesleyan administration rejected our proposals to get funding this year, citing new policies. We have already secured a studio space with a kiln next to Red and Black cafe, but now, we need the funds to pay for the materials (clay, pottery wheels, tools, glazes, etc.) We absolutely do not want to charge students to use this space- we believe it must be accessible to all. We plan to run a student-forum class in this space, in addition to eventually holding "open studio" hours where monitors can train and assist anyone who is interested in ceramics. Opening this studio would greatly increase the number of students who get to learn and enjoy ceramics at Wesleyan! Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated!
