Knee Surgery for Carrie Underfoot the Yoga Goat!

Donation protected

UPDATE 11/30: Carrie is currently resting at Texas A&M Large Animal Hospital. We spoke to the surgeon this afternoon and everything is set for
Carrie's surgery tomorrow at 9:00 AM. The surgeon and the vet techs all say that Carrie is the sweetest goat and so friendly too! Thank you everyone for helping us raise over 50% of our goal in the past six days. We will update tomorrow with what the surgeon has to say after she operates on Carrie.
UPDATE 12/01: Carrie had her surgery this morning. The surgeon called us and said that Carrie was happily eating, drinking, and they had her up and walking around on her cast - this is very important! We are suppose to receive an update again tomorrow. She has 3 or 4 more days at A&M and then home!

We need your help! Carrie Underfoot, our little miracle goat, is going back to Texas A&M on Mon., Nov. 30 for surgery on her right knee.

She has a subluxation in the knee joint of her front right leg. We noticed last
month that she was favoring that leg and immediately booked an appointment at Texas A&M University's Large Animal Hospital to find out what was causing her
discomfort.

Per the radiographs taken that day, the vets determined that her knee had
suffered trauma - likely due to a misstep or goat rowdiness - and the joint was
starting to heal crooked! Without surgery she will be in pain constantly, develop
arthritis very early in her life, and never again be able to make friends in the Goat Yoga corral.

On Mon., Nov. 30, the surgeons plan to re-set her knee in the correct position,
and we will rehab her inside our home,  just like we did when she was a newborn
baby goat in early 2019 (long story short, her mama accidentally stepped on her,
resulting in a compression fracture in her spine... we got her a K-9 cart and nursed her back to good health)!

We won't know how expensive the surgery will ultimately be until the doctor can open up her knee and assess the totality of the trauma to the joint.

We were told it will cost at least $2,000 for the surgery alone, plus follow-up
hospital visits, and a new cart, since she has outgrown the cart she used as a baby.

Often people ask us what they can do to help with the goats to contribute to their
happiness and well-being. Typically, we suggest coming to a Goat Yoga class to get and give some love, but this is an unusual circumstance, and Carrie could really
use your help!

If you are able and would like to contribute to the healing of this precious little
goat,  we would be eternally grateful.

Thank you for caring about the goats as much as we do. This world is richer and
more beautiful for the love they have brought - especially the love that Carrie
gives to everyone she meets!

Check out Carrie getting and giving love starting at the 6 min 44 sec mark

We appreciate all of your support!
