Kendall's Going To Greece

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kendall Wright and I am second year student at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Athletic Training. At the culmination of my freshman year, I was presented with an opportunity to study abroad in Greece during the 2014-2015 spring break alongside students and faculty in the athletic training cohort. As a devoted scholar, I immediately saw this trip as an opportunity to enhance my career aspirations. As an aspiring physical therapist and athletic trainer, I was enthralled with the idea of gaining deeper knowledge and bridging the gap between my chosen career path and the history of sports medicine rooted in Greece.

Greece is the birthplace of the study of sports medicine and was the hosting ground for the first Olympic Games. I am attracted to the idea of immersing myself in the country where my chosen field began, and as a result, enhancing my studies. My program specifically, was designed for students interested in sports medicine to gain professional experience in managing, treating, and rehabilitating sport related injuries. By understating the significance of sports medicine development, its origins in ancient Greece and its continuance present day, I will undoubtedly reap the rewards by experiencing living history; rewards that will help make me a better student and ultimately a better athletic trainer.

The tentative trip itinerary includes:
·      Athens
o   The city with the most glorious history and the city where democracy was born. I mean, who hasn’t heard of the Acropolis of Athens?
·      Corinth
o   I will be visiting the ancient ruins of Corinth. This ancient city also joins the Peloponnesus to the mainlands of Greece.
·      Nafplion
o   Considered to be one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in the area of Argolis. Some places I will be visiting here are Syntagma Square and the Palamadi Castle
·      Olympia
o   Olympia is often referred to as the “valley of Gods” and is one of the most powerful brand names worldwide. I will be walking through the impressive ruins of the ancient sanctuary and stadium where games were played in worship of the gods.
·      Delphi
o   Delphi, in ancient times, was considered the place where heaven and earth met. It is also a center of worship for God Apollo.

I am thrilled about this opportunity and thank you in advance for your thoughtful contribution. No donation is too small!
