A Home For Special Needs Family

Donation protected
My name is Syrita Powers, I'm a mother of 3 special little girls, Georgia, Madison & Logan. Our son Aaron Jr died shortly after birth 8-2-09. When Georgia was 10 months old, after taking her to every specialist available  she was diagnosed with Partial Trisomy 14 disorder. To find out that your child has a disability can be devastating. But, once we had a diagnosis, time marched on. Everyday since her diagnosis my husband, my family and I have worked tirelessly to improve her life. We've learned to focus on the positives. We build her strengths to get her to her full potential, not her weaknesses.

One day I woke up and assumed my 2 year old, Logan was mimicking Georgia. She was talking a little and in the blink of an eye she just stopped.  Can you imagine my thoughts? Can she hear? Is she having seizures?  We stopped, prayed and regrouped.  We took her to just about every specialist and had early intervention services started.  After a while it became clear that  Logan had Autism Spectrum Disorder. So now we start another long and inevitably difficult journey. As a  parent you live for your kids, so I've become a stay home mom. Raising kids with disabilities doesn't allow much time for yourself so my hopes, dreams and talents have taken a back seat.  See, my girls can't talk and it is my job to protect them. I trust God, but with the way the world is I have to protect and shild them from all of the dangers. Knowing that my girls are getting the best possible care makes my decision to stay at home with them much easier.

Madison is now having a hard time in school. She's very bright but with nurses and  early intervention coming in the house for 3yrs instead of concentrating on her school work she's wondering who's here for me? Now I have 3 kids with special needs. I thank God for them and love them with my whole heart but I'm running out of physical strength.  Having arthritis and sciatica is  getting the best of me. My passion is to cook and bake. It is my stress relief, my out, and that's slowly slipping away.
My family and i are doing everything we can to stay positive and keep our heads up.

We are in  no way  complaining. I am just laying the facts out there. Having one child with disabilities is tough as you can imagine. But, can you imagine three children with disabilities all while having your own physical pain? I am grateful for everything God has blessed us with but we need help.  So, I put my pride aside and come with my heart in my hand asking for help.  Everything that can go wrong is going wrong. We are in desperate need of a new home as the one where we presently reside isn't fit for raising three children with disabilities. The roof is leaking. There's mold growing in the house, etc. We are also in need of a reliable vehicle as ours keeps cutting off at every light. My husband was laid off  his job of 15 years. Our reliable vehicle was repossessed. It's a must that we can get to the girls specialist in delaware. We reside in Philadelphia. If you can help by making a small donation of any denomination that would be a blessing, Every child deserves to grow up in an environment that is safe for them to do so and I need your help to make that happen. I thank you in advance for your support and donations. Please continue to keep us in prayer. Our numbe if anyone wants to speak with us personally [phone redacted]

God Bless,
