IVF for Kevin & Laura

Donation protected
Let me start out by saying that Kevin and I were very hesitant about asking for help financially. We have prayed on it and thought a lot about it. We've had questions from friends and family if there is anything they can do to help us out. We decided to give in and make this gofundme account with the thought that some people may be in a position to help. We know the number is high and we don't expect to raise all this money but any little bit will help in our fertility journey. The quicker we are able to raise the funds, the quicker we can try again. Time is of the essence when dealing with fertility treatments.

As many of you know, Kevin and I were high school sweethearts and dated for 8 years before we married in June of 2008. We are both teachers and love children. We always thought it would be simple to start a family but we were surprised by the fact that we would struggle making a family of our own. We tried for one year naturally before going to see our family doctor who then referred us to an OBGYN. Our OBGYN did some tests and put me on the Clomid pill. We were so excited and thought this would work, but it did not. I was on Clomid for 3 cycles. We then decided to research fertility doctors and was introduced to one in Grand Rapids by my brother and sister-in-law. We met with him but decided to not follow through. We got nervous and scared. We took a little break. When we were ready to try again, we found a new fertility doctor in Grand Rapids at the Ferility Center. We met with the doctor to figure out our plan. Laura took meds and shots for IUI (intra-utirine insemination). We thought it would work, but it did not. We then tried IUI again and again; 3 times in total.

After 3 failed attempts at IUI, we decided we were ready to try IVF (invitro fetilization). Laura was put on a lot of medication and took many different shots to gear up for our first round of IVF. The doctors were positive, which made us excited. We waited for 2 weeks after IVF to see if it worked, and unfortunately, it did not work. We tried a second round of IVF, which is called FET (frozen embryo transfer). We had 6 embryos frozen and used 2 for the second try. We thought for sure it would work this time around and again we were faced with disappointment. It did not work. The doctors at the Grand Rapids Feritility Center are so kind and called us to apologize that it didn't work. We met with the doctor to see what was possibly going on. He said we are both young and healthy and he has an idea of what will work for the next time we try. We have 4 frozen embryos left. We made the decision to take about a year off so we can pay back what we owe on the first 2 rounds of IVF/FET. We are still quite positive that it will work. We are keeping our heads up and know that we will have a family one day (very soon hopefully)!
