A Series of Unfortunate Events

Hello, people I know and love (and lurkers)!

I've said a lot on Facebook, but I'm going to say something you've never heard me say before. I need your help.

Asking for help is not something I ever imagined I'd do, at least not publicly. Boy howdy, no. I planned to help you instead!

I need your help to leave Chicagoland and relocate to my hometown in Western New York.

I'm on a clock and I need to pack soon. This change is happening abruptly, but I reckon its going to happen all the same.

My twelve year relationship has ended, something I did not foresee. I didn't plan for this but it is time to move. Unfortunately, I do not own the home in which I have lived for the past 12 years and I am not in a financial position to leave and find a job and another place to live in Chicago.

This has been a year of transition. In addition to the end of my relationship I have been in treatment for clinical depression and my mother has entered a long-term care facility for a host of medical issues including congestive heart failure.

My medical benefits expire at the end of this month. I need to move back to New York state to reapply for medical insurance. It's important that my coverage doesn't lapse so I can continue treatment for a chronic health condition.

My mother's home in Olcott Beach is available to me on a short-term basis. She's going to need to sell the house in 2019. In order for me to live there I will need a minimum of $500 per month to cover my rent until I can find a job and an apartment

I'm taking virtually nothing with me so I'll also need to buy clothes for job interviews, furniture, etc., for my new apartment.

I'm re-booting my life from scratch at the age of 50. I have no delusions about the obstacles I may face, but I am eager to get started. I must get started. I have no other choice.

This change is a necessity, though I will be happy to be near my mother during these last days of her life.

I'm incredibly lucky to be able to use my mother's home for a short time. With just a little help from my friends I'm hoping to get the traction I need to start over.

It's terribly difficult for me to reach out and ask for help. If you are in a position to do so, if you can spare just a little, I will be eternally grateful.

I will do everything in my power to repay you with kindness, support and maybe a wacky story or two. When I am able, I promise you I will pay it forward, with pleasure!

I am actively looking for work, both in WNY and online. If you have ANY leads, please contact me.

I know this might come as a surprise. It was a surprise for me, too. If you'd like to discuss the details further, I'm happy to do so privately.

Thank you in advance for anything you're able to contribute to the new Me. Thank you in advance for your friendship and well-wishes.

Even though it doesn't always feel like it right now, I know that I am blessed beyond belief with friends, family and so many good people in my life. That's my focus today. Thank you ever so much.
