Help for Mom

Donation protected
I'm reaching out for help for my Mom, Patty. Long story short she recently lost her husband and my father. She had spent the past 15 years of her life caring for him in their home after he contracted West Nile Virus the summer of 2002. After losing our family home, her job and their normal way of living they were forced to go on social security.  She stopped working to stay home with him the last several years as his health started to take a turn. He passed away July 2017 and with him gone she lost his social security income. He was 55 years old and she was 57 years old. Immediately we filed for survivor benefits which she was denied. In addition we applied for SSA and SSI which was also denied. In October 2017 my Mom was then diagnosed with mouth cancer. She has undergone surgery and is still hospitalized with complications but doing okay. We hope for a mostly full recovery.  Family has helped tremendously with keeping up with her rent and her bills so she can remain in her home during this time. She is running dangerously low and facing losing her home if we can not figure out something. I have reached out to our Ohio Senators, the White House and the President regarding her social security denial. Despite her cancer diagnosis and inability to work social security will not speed up the process. We have been told 12 months for a hearing and or 12-24 months for an appeal. She is still not guaranteed assistance when that time comes. We have reached out to welfare and she is not eligible for cash assistance. She is receiving food stamps and medical care but that does not provide a roof over her head.

I am asking for donations with the hope that she can remain in her home if she can get a little help. She will need to continue with medical care once discharged from the hospital. Moving her from her home would be harmful for her continued care. She has always lived in Cleveland, Ohio and moving her from that only home would leave her isolated. My home is the only other place she can go and I live in another county. All of her benefits and medical care would have to move with her which will take time she doesn't have right now.  Including finding a new team of doctors to take over where Metro Hospital would leave off.

My hope for her is we can keep her in her home as long as possible.  If we can buy her enough time maybe we can get her through till social security can help out. With a little help from everyone I think we can make this happen. Contributions would go directly towards rent and bills. I understand it is a lot to ask but I'm trying everything I can before I give up. When there's a will there's a way, right? Thank you for taking the time to read this and if all you can do is share it we would greatly appreciate it.
