Spokane’s floor covering community is pulling together for one their most favorite and highly regarded customer service representatives, Kjrsten Smith. Her recent diagnosis of Cushing’s Disease and impending surgery has us rallying to help one of the best in our business. Health insurance can only cover so much, what it doesn’t cover is living expenses while she is in a 4-8 week recovery from her brain surgery. Being a part of a small knit community, we believe in taking care of our own and helping with living expenses is but a small part of helping. Moral support, prayers for a speedy recovery and kind wishes are appreciated as well. As a friend and comrade we are hoping to help her in this trying time.
This is part of the info Kjrsten sent to us explaining what is going on:
“Earlier this summer I was diagnosed with what’s called Cushing’s Disease. It’s a rare hormonal disease that is caused when the body produces and releases too much cortisol into your system. It causes a plethora of health issues (way too many to list), and takes a huge toll on the body both physically and mentally. After undergoing numerous amounts of tests, blood work, and an MRI, it was discovered that the cause of the disease was a tumor on my pituitary gland that is slightly larger than a dime. The tumor is pressing against my optic nerve as well as my carotid artery and the best form of treatment in my case is to remove the tumor via surgery. I’m having to travel to Seattle to have the surgery done by a specialist, and will be in the hospital for a minimum of 3-5 days, but could be there as long as a week. After surgery, the expected recovery time is anywhere from 4-8 weeks before being given the OK to go back to work full time. I'm hoping / praying for a successful surgery without too much down time, seeing as how I've got limited PTO with work (3 weeks), not to mention the financial hardship this will cause.”
