KJ's Cakery Bakery Sweet Shop

KJ's Cakery Bakery originally started as Taylor Made Pantry more than 8 years ago. I started the small business with my own funds, designed the website, managed the orders, tracked the sales and ran every bit of my business operation myself. The business was doing okay as a hobby business but I wanted to do more. About 2 years ago, I decided to re-brand my business and focus on custom orders that other bakeries in the area didn't specialize in.

My love of baking stems from spending time in the kitchen with grandma Lula and watching her bake amazing German Chocolate Cakes, Sweet Potato Pies and other decadent Sunday desserts. My mom is a great baker and makes amazing pound cakes and I added Clara's Pound Cake to my dessert selection.  My cakes taste great and they are artistically designed with love for each and every one of my customers. 

I started making custom shoes, purses and other sculpted cakes like the hamburger cake below and my business took off.




I currently receive 10-20 requests a day for custom cakes and dessert orders but can not full-fill the orders due to my current cottage kitchen business structure limiting what you can offer as well as how much you can make. Opening the store allows me to have someone available to pick up the phone and connect with each potential customer. I will be able to setup online ordering and pick up in the Sweet Shop. My brides can come for cake tasting in my store and I can setup with Doordash or Uber Eats for additional customer orders. I can hire additional help in my community to manage the store as well as another baker to help fulfill cake orders.

My new business is unique and doesn't exist in Kent. My Sweet Shop will offer my decadent desserts but it will also offer other treats like Gourmet Popcorn, nostalgic candy, ice cream and more. My concept is offering my customers a variety of sweet treats in family friend, beautifully designed store.

I have invested more than $15k in my business so far to date and your help  will allow me to  renovate the store, work, update my social media presence and website, provide capital funding for the first months of opening my business allowing me to sustain, and ability to buy inventory for my business.
