KJ Rosynek fight of life & mobility

Help for KJ

In July, KJ Rosynek was busy working on trimming her backyard shrubbery as she always did - working on her impeccably manicured yard. She was on a step ladder attempting to reach a high branch, when she tumbled over her fence into her neighbor’s yard severely injuring her spinal cord and paralyzing her from the neck down. KJ waited for close to 3 hours for someone to find her as she called out. Hours later, she found herself at Kennestone hospital undergoing spinal fixation surgery to stabilize her spinal column.

KJ has always been the person you go to when you need a friend or a helping hand, but now she is the one who needs your help. Over the past six months, she has gone through a lot of challenges in her drive to get back on her feet. Last month, she had to give up her two beloved Dachshunds for adoption. To pay for her ongoing medical bills, she had to sell her car, most of her belongings, and the home she has lived in for 21 years. Through all of this, she inspires us with how strong and determined she is to get back to leading an independent life.

KJ faces a long road to recovery. After her surgery at Kennestone, she was transported to Shepherd Center in Buckhead where she completed a rigorous 8 week rehab course and then moved in with her sister Mimi in Alpharetta. She continues to work on her recovery by attending three four-hour long sessions a week at The Shepherd Center.

While she is making progress, she still has a very long road ahead of her, and, being a sole household earner, expenses have mounted rapidly. I set this funding page up to reach out to all of those that, when they learned of KJ’s injury, asked me, “Is there anything I can do?”. I can now say, “yes, there is!" In addition to your thoughts and prayers, Katherine needs donations to support her continuing recovery. She will need long term care once she transitions to assisted living from her sister’s home, in addition to medical support equipment that insurance does not cover, and transportation.

If you know KJ, you know just how selfless and giving she is and would never want to impose upon anyone. But this is her hour of need, and I implore anyone who might be able to commit some amount to aid her on her journey back to independence. Your support means so much.

Also, if someone out there has a motorized wheelchair that is for a person with limited movement that they would be able to donate (not sure if they have a special name) it would really help with being able to get her back to work. KJ misses being here with us as much as we miss having her around, so please help us help her. I, like so many others, am counting the days until we get to hear her voice and laughter echoing down the hall.
