DONATION RECIPIENTS: The Guzman Family - affected by Hurricane Harvey, Houston flood.
BACKGROUND
Our dear friends from Christchurch, New Zealand, who relocated to Houston, with NZ based Tait Electronics Ltd are now in the position of rebuilding their lives a second time following the Houston floods, having also been through the ChCh earthquakes.
THEIR STORY
Lina and Blad Guzman and their two sweet kids Santi (7) and Gaby (3) face losing their home and all their possessions to the devastating hurricane Harvey/Houston floods.
They are naturally traumatized and trying to make sense of their new found situation.
Their home was in the badly effected Canyon Gate subdivision that was sacrificed in order to lessen the impact of uncontrolled flooding. They were evacuated by boat, at 2am, in waist high water.
Lina and Blad's home is expected to be under water for over a month and if at all salvageable, will be very close to a rebuild. They escaped with their lives, passports and a change of clothes for their children.
Sadly flood damage is not covered by their home insurance policy - so they are without insurance.
If anyone has considered donating to the dire situation in Houston, but want to make a personal contribution, then please know these sweet people are in very genuine need.
USE OF FUNDS
The money raised in this campaign will be used to replace the contents of their home and if salvageable, return the home to a safe, habitable condition. If not salvageable, funds will be used towards accommodation and or, the financing of another home.
