Fundraiser for Anne

Just over 12 months ago I received a text message from my good friend Anne, she had just been diagnosed with breast cancer with a lymph node under her arm also affected. Following this she commenced chemo followed by a mastectomy and radiation therapy. In September her oncologist was pleased with the response to the treatment and she had to return to see him in 6months. A lump was found in a node in December 2014 and further tests were undertaken. Another Christmas and New Year with this additional worry about her health. Last week she heard some news that was very difficult to take. The cancer is still in her lymph nodes and is very aggressive, further treatment is required to try and keep it at bay. Prior to her treatment in Jan 2014, Anne had just secured a job at the dogs home which she wasn't able to continue with. Throughout the year she has used all her savings, some of her super and has been supported by her family. Some of her lovely friends ran some fundraisers for her last year. Anne also ran a fundraiser last year donating the funds to the McGrath Foundation, a foundation close to her heart given her love of cricket and her breast cancer diagnosis.

I've set up this crowd fund raiser for Anne, with her permissions, as I thought it was an opportunity for her friends to come together and help raise some money for Anne to help alleviate the financial burden this diagnosis has caused. I have no idea how much this is likely to raise, but even if it gives her one month less of financial stress then that's a fantastic outcome as that's one month she will have that little bit more energy that she is going to need to keep fighting this.
