Hi there! Tipper aka Tippy here!
I was a mom of four kittens, which all found forever homes, and formerly an indoor cat. I was known as a friendly, and affectionate homeless cat who likes dogs. I made many friends. But one night, I received a bite wound and broken ribs from what the vet assumed is from a dog which eventually led to my rescue and current medical condition. That is the risks that many cats like me experience when living outdoors.
On July 26, a Friday evening, my foster found that I was having trouble breathing and my chest throbbing abnormally. I was immediately sent to Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital. At first, the veterinarians suspected I had FIP, but eventually found that I have a severe and life-threatening lung infection called pyothorax. I was put on oxygen for days, three kinds of antibiotics and 24/7 care for the infection to remain under control. Now, my life is in danger.
On July 30, I was then transferred to a Cooper Square Veterinary Clinic to be under 24/7 care for three weeks.
KittyKind is a non-for-profit, all-volunteer run, and no-kill cat adoption rescue located in New York City within Petco at Union Square. Many of our cats were either surrendered or rescued. Unfortunately, some of them come to us in poor health. Whatever the case may be, we firmly believe that if the illness is treatable, they deserve a second chance. But what comes through our philosophy are brutal and unpleasant vet bills. To us, if it means they can live a future of safety, comfort, and a loving forever home indoors, then its worth it.
KittyKind is dedicated to matching our cats with their perfect homes and educating the public on feline welfare in New York City. We have an unwavering commitment to caring for and finding the best adoptive homes for our cats, with a special dedication to those who are deemed “special needs” because of illness, injury, disability, or age. Each year, KittyKind rescues more than 400 cats and makes a lifetime commitment to each one. Their happy endings attest to the dedication of our network of compassionate, tireless volunteers and to the contributions of the public, who provide donations, foster care, and, ultimately, wonderful forever homes.
That is why KittyKind is asking for your help!
Our team is reaching out to the public to ask for donations to pay for Tipper's vet bills to ensure that she gets the critical care and treatment she needs.
