Medley’s Broken Legs and Surgery

She broke the both front legs and the fractures required a specialist surgeon to attach metal plates to her bones in order for them to heal correctly. She broke her left radius, left ulna, and right radius bones. Between emergency vet, orthopaedic surgery and 2 months of post surgery follow up the whole ordeal costs $10,000k - which is far more then the emergency funds available. $5,000 was paid from savings, but the remaining $5,000 is on credit cards which is a lot of unexpected credit debt to cover and accumulating interest. $3k on mine and $2k on my parents’ which I’d like to repay eventually.

As a person who lives alone, my cat is my world during a pandemic. Although it’s costly, her care was important to be done right. As a young cat, her prognosis is good for an almost full recovery (higher risk of joint or muscle issues in old age unless her plating comes loose). Anything helps to chip away at the vet bills.

Emergency Vet - $873.39

Surgeon - $7999.67

Follow up to check stitches - $34.39

Follow up x-rays #1 - $591

Follow up x-ray #2 (estimated) - $591
= $10,089.45
