Kitra's Journey

We would like for everyone to meet Kitra. She is 13 and has been fighting Ependymoma since Feb 2012. Her journey started with a emergency brain surgery to remove a softball size brain tumor. After a 17 day stay at Cooks we learned that it was in fact brain cancer called Ependymoma. She started her first round of chemo that April. After her first 2 rounds of chemo we were told that she was a complete responder. There was no new sign of tumor growth and things seem to be moving in the right direction. She still had radiation and more chemo to hopefully ensure that that was the case but she has done at all witha smile.
The  summer of 2012 Mike and I decided that we would save for our last disney cruise so that we would all have something positive to look forward to after all of the chemo and radiation was done.
Kitra was allowed to go back to school Feb 2013. She was excited to be back with her friends and return to a less hectic life. Things were looking up and starting to feel normal. We were very happy for that. Which brings us to now. We learned that Kitra has a new tumor growing in her brain. This time its not operable. Our options are limited. Of the options we were given we decided to join  a clinical trial at St Judes in Memphis Tennessee.

With all that has been going on we were told to apply for SSDI. Our case is rather stressful and sadly we don't qualify for any form of assitance from the state. St Judes provides for Mike and Kitra while they are there but they can't help with the bills at home. I am very blessed to be employed by a company that has excellant benefits and pays very well. But not everything is covered for her.
