We Need Lunch!
Tax deductible
We've been working and planning for a new school in Mbale, Uganda for several years, Queen of Peace Junior Academy! We're starting with four rooms and plan to add on soon. A latrine, well, and playground equipment will be completed now, too. Uniforms are also being sewn. (Kids in Uganda wear uniforms to school.)
One thing we didn't count on was a kitchen!! We need one to be ready when the school opens. This is a high poverty area. Children will come to school hungry. Lunch will most likely be their only meal of the day. The kitchen will be a brick structure with a steel drum for a stove. It must be vented to protect the cook from creosote build up. (Fires are made with wood.) This is especially important since the cooks often carry babies on their backs. It must have a lockable area to store cooking staples. It will be impossible for the director/teacher, Judy, to carry large sacks of rice on a bodabodo (motorcycle.)
The school will become a community center for the people in this village. It is so important that we have a kitchen to support the village and the children. We would appreciate any support in helping the amazing people and children in Mbale!
