Kitchen Balcony Marathon for Osun Red Cross

A Simple Gesture can change the flow of things
April 25, 2020
In the year 1859, Mr. Henry Dunant was traveling in his carriage for a business meeting.
He passed through the Solferino Battle Ground, which was littered with the dead and the wounded. The sight of the wounded soldiers from the battle compelled him to stop and help. That simple gesture changed the flow of things to come in the future. That simple gesture resulted in the birth of the Red Cross Society. The Osun Chapter of the Red Cross is one of the Nigerian local arms of that same Red Cross Society.
Runner Girl is running a series of 8 Marathons on her 10 meter kitchen balcony due to mandatory lockdown. While complying with physical distancing, this will also focus public attention on the urgent pandemic work of the local Red Cross Society. Her vision is to help support their work. Here is a quote from this arm of the local Red Cross Society stating their activities:
“Hello ma
As red cross is known as an humanitarian Organization, we have carried out covid19 sensitization across the state and we are planning to produce and distribute hand sanitizers to people and also the major project which we have been working on is distribution of palliatives like foodstuffs to the vulnerable in the Society.
We will greatly appreciate any form of assistance from your team ma.”
From the Chairman, Osun State Chapter of the Nigerian Red Cross Society
You can help achieve Runner Girl’s goal of providing the Osun Red Cross Society with 8 bicycles (one bicycle for each kitchen balcony marathon she runs) and their urgently needed funds. Imagine how valuable this will be to their work. Your modest contribution is immediately needed to flatten the pandemic curve.
