FBC Mission for Relief: Puerto Rico

WHO WE ARE

We are the Buckler's and the Kisicki's! The four of us, Tanner and Paige Buckler and Justin and Kylie Kisicki, are young marrieds rooming together and sharing this stage of our lives together. We are passionate about serving others while sharing our faith and spreading the gospel. Last year we were able to serve together on a two week mission trip to Indonesia and a day trip to Mexico to hand deliver Christmas presents! 

THE MISSION

This summer we have a new opportunity to serve in a very necessary way in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In the wake of natural disasters we see our country come together in a beautiful way to provide a massive amount of resources and financial donations. But we often forget just how long the process of recovery can take. New Orleans was still rebuilding in major ways even 10 years after Hurricane Katrina hit. Now, 6 months after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, 40% of the island is still without electricity! In Maria's wake, most of the island's population suffered from flooding and lack of resources, compounded by the immense challenges of navigating the devastated infrastructure. Total losses from the hurricane are estimated at upwards of $91.61 billion (2017 USD), mostly in Puerto Rico, ranking it as the third-costliest tropical cyclone on record.

From June 1 - 9, the four of us have chance to use our varied talents to serve in a multi-generational team of 25 people with Faith Bible Church on a mission trip to San Juan. Our team will be partnered with Youth With A Mission-Puerto Rico (YWAM). We will be serving in the ways that YWAM sees fit, mostly through cleanup and construction projects, and hope to provide encouragement along the way. 


WHAT WE NEED

Prayers and donations!

Most important to us are your prayers. Please pray for us and our team as we prepare over the next few months for this journey. Pray also that those we will be reaching out to would be open to God’s love and His Gospel. Pray for all of the preparation and details that go into such an endeavor. Pray for our funds to be raised and for our safety as well.

Please consider donating, as the cost of this trip is $1,000 per person.  This will cover housing, airfare, ground transportation, food and activities.  We are currently raising the money to cover the four of us, but any additional donations will be put to good use. It will go toward funding the rest of our team and give us the ability to bring more resources than expected with us.
