Kirstens #roadtoTokyo to Rebuild Nature

After missing out on the Tokyo Olympic Games as a rower, I decided to take an alternative #roadtoTokyo: by bike! During my trip, I will create awareness and raise money for projects that are rebuilding nature.
These so-called Ecosystem Regeneration projects make dry, exhausted areas lush and fertile again, which is very profitable for both nature and society. During my trip, I will visit examples of these projects and share their inspirational stories on my site and social channels.

Part of the raised money will be used to finance the on-the-road part of the cycling trip (visa, accomodation, tickets), but the main items (tent, bike, clothing, cooking gear etc.) are my own investment. My intention however is that the majority of the funds raised go to the Regenerative Farm Bodemzicht.
This Dutch farm is a perfect example of Ecosystem Regeneration. By working with nature instead of against nature, Bodemzicht brings back biodiversity and fights climate problems. Their use of both smart agriculture and old natural principles shows a good alternative approach to modern agriculture. This crowdfunding will help them invest in a green irrigation system and new pond, bringing back biodiversity and supporting natural water resources. It will also support their educational programs, in which they share their alternative approach with farmers facing the farmers-crisis.

My plan is to leave mid March, but at the moment clearly all travel is on hold. If it's not responsible to start in March, I will need to be flexible. Start a bit later, change my route and do some segments by train. In the worst case scenario I'll need to postpone my trip to next year or stick to cycling Europe. But I promise to use all my creativity and positivity to bring this plan to a succesful ending and to spend the money worthwile :).
