Kirsten Kane Medical Relief

Thanks to all who have donated and supported Kirsten through this tumultuous fight against stage four breast cancer over the last fifteen months. Your loving generosity has alleviated a great deal of stress and worry, allowing Kirsten's primary focus to be her health and wellbeing. Despite all of the emotional and financial hardship she has faced, Kirsten's perseverance is proving successful: the treatments are working, her tumor markers are down, and her doctors are encouraged by her progress. 

That is not to say that this good news comes without a price. On a daily basis, Kirsten is coping with severe cancer-related pain and fatigue. Because Kirsten is the incredible human being that she is, she continues to soldier on, working as much as her body allows (Kirsten is an amazing RN on a busy medical-surgical unit, and let me tell you, that is one hard job! I'm an RN too so I know first hand how emotionally and physically taxing the job can be). Her 16 year old son Xander is top priority, and Kirsten does everything she can to ensure that her own challenges do not take away from his happiness or livelihood, working hard to provide for him and cheering him on at every game. Kirsten also finds time to celebrate her friends and family, for whom she is most appreciative.

While Kirsten lives a full life, that life is not easy. Kirsten is not able to work as much as she once did due to the physical limitations brought by chronic pain, bringing financial strain which in turn causes stress and worry. Soon, Kirsten will be taking additional time off work to undergo a major surgery that will allow her to eventually discontinue a medication that is known to contribute to joint pain. If successful, this will mean vast improvement to Kirsten's quality of life, but again, the financial stress of missing more work is mounting. 

This is where you can help! With surgery on the horizon and an extended leave from work, your financial support is again very needed. Kirsten Kane is an incredible person: a kick ass single mother, a loyal and caring friend, a dedicated and compassionate RN, a breast cancer survivor. She is full of life, spunk and humor. And she needs our help.

Kirsten, after fighting and beating breast cancer many years ago, has just learned that she has cancer a second time. She is grappling with her new diagnosis, facing treatment, and unsure of when she can return to work. Her medical benefits are being terminated at the end of December given her inability to work. Her financial future is uncertain.

Kirsten is reluctant to ask for monetary help, but I (her colleague and friend) have no problem asking for your help. HELP! Please donate what you can to this remarkable human being. She and her fifteen year old son (Xander) would greatly benefit from your generosity.

Kirsten's attitude and spirit are amazing despite the hardships she faces. Kirsten is ready to fight for her life. The time to do so is now! My hope is that we can help her win this fight. Thank you!
