Kirk’s Family & Medical Bills Support
My father, Kirk Stephenson, is one of the strongest and most admirable men I know. He sets the example for myself and everyone in our community of what it means to be a true man and a provider for his family. He is the man who never calls in sick, is never late to work, and picks up a second job at night to help pay the bills. For the entirety of my childhood and all of my adult life, I have watched my father bend over backwards for anyone that has come to us for help.
Back in 2010 my parents made the decision to open up their home to the foster children of San Antonio. Over the course of 9 years we have cared for and loved nearly a dozen children and added 3 beautiful babies to our Stephenson family. This act of love and kindness from my parents doesn't even begin to portray the generosity and compassion that exudes from my family.
This past week has been a devastating time for us. My father has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of Renal Cell Kidney Cancer. We have been watching his health slowly deteriorate for the past few months and our doctors were unable to get to the root cause of his persistent cough, complete and total exhaustion, and pain all over his body. He was written off with a clean bill of health and sent on his way multiple times. The results of his most recent CT scan shows a malignant tumor completely engulfing my father’s left kidney. At this time there is fluid making its way to his lymph nodes; the spread of this cancer could be detrimental to his recovery.
It is under strong medical advisory that my father’s left kidney be removed as soon as possible. In order for this to happen we have to get him up to Houston’s MD Anderson hospital. We have scheduled him the earliest appointment available, and are awaiting test results.
Kirk is in URGENT need of donations to receive the necessary treatments for this aggressive cancer! The sum of money for travel, surgery, and chemotherapy is too large of a financial burden for his family to handle on their own.
