Kinsley's Medical and Homecoming

Hi I'm Janet Ward and I have set up this Go Fund Me account for my daughter Katie Brorwn & her husband Jeffrey.  As many of you know, Katie came home to North Carolina from Ohio for a baby shower on Sunday, May 7th, 2017.    We had a wonderful turnout and everyone was excited that Katie was expecting a baby girl, she has named Kinsley Elizabeth Brown.  Kinsley's due date was on August 18th.     But as we all know, GOD's plans are higher and better than our plans, and his plans were very different.
Katie went back home to Ohio on Monday and had almost 2 weeks of good work, when on Thursday she had felt sick and had a couple of contractions.  Friday was similar, but with contractions that were harder, and she noticed that she felt the baby move less.  Saturday she had instincts that the baby was hardly moving, at 27 weeks and 1 day. Katie decided it was better safe than sorry, so she went to the local Urgent Care and they did an ultrasound and decided it would be best for her to go on to her hospital and Dr.  There they did a full ultrasound and they determined that Kinsley was in distress.  Katie called us here in NC and we started the long drive up there.  but before we got there her husband called us and said baby was more in distress and they took Katie in for an emergency C-section.
Then at 8:21 pm Kinsley Elizabeth Brown entered this world.  She only weighed 1 lb. 7 oz.  and was 13" long.  Mommy Katie got to get a glimpse of Baby Kinsley while Daddy Jeffrey carried her to her incubator & temporary bed & home for the next 3 plus months.
Many people know this heartache of not being able to hold your baby after carrying him/her for months, or that you can't take her home.... but it hasn't been easy.  Especially for Mommy Katie.
Goals: Kinsley has to weigh 5 lbs. be off the ventilator and fully breathing on her own, be able to maintain her own body temperature along with a host of other hospital goals for her to be able to sustain a newborn baby status in good health in order to be able to come home. Right now she has another 2 full months to go, and lots of development & growing. Once they get Kinsley's right lung opened back up, they will be able to continue to Kangaroo hold her. For those of you that don't understand Kangaroo hold, it's the act of holding the baby directly on your chest getting skin to skin contact with mommy & Daddy so Kinsley will be able to appropriately bond and feel secure. Proven facts that show babies with this technique thrive faster & better compared to those that don't get held that often.
GOD is over Kinsley and we feel confident with all the prayers she has had and will continue to have that Kinsley will be fine in time. However there are many human obstacles that are weighing this family down, and we are reaching out to ask our friends, family and neighbors far & wide to help us. We ask for continued prayers, to be with Jeffrey as he tries to work and deal with the stressors of the baby in the hospital, & Katie trying to manage at home. For Katie & Jeffrey's safety driving to & from the hospital, sometimes up to twice a day if need be, to see & tend to Kinsley. Prayers for their peace of mind assuring them that GOD has this covered! Prayers for both sets of Grandparents as we all live in different states, and have to travel back & forth to offer help where ever we can. And our struggle financially is the same.
Katie's car is old & starting to have issues, there is gas & food that they need, that they were able to supply on two incomes, but funds after a lengthy stay in any hospital have drained rather fast & down to one income. There are things they need, now & when they bring the baby home, plus their percent of the bill they will have to pay... The amount we have set, is just to get a start to help them, it may be enough, but then it may lack. But it is where we were suggested to start... we ask your blessings and send our hearts out to you as you read our story. We thank you with every fiber of our hearts.
We will give you updates & pictures all along as we go thru this process.
