Kingston’s Fight against DIPG

These past 2 days have been the worst nightmare any parent could have. My best friend of over 30 years noticed something was off with her 3 years old son, so like any good mother she took him to his pediatrician. They advised her to get him to MUSC immediately for him to have an MRI. What was found was devastating. Her 3 year old son, the love of her life, my nephew was diagnosed with a very rare childhood brain tumor called a DIPG (Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma). Unable to do surgery because of the location in the brain and size, right now the only hope and plan is to start radiation this week. No parent wants to to get this news and all we can do is support mom and dad and love little Kingston. Lynda is a stay at home mom to not only Kingston 3 but to his little sister Gabriella who is 1. Kingston’s dad is going to have to take an unknown period of time off of work to support Lynda and spend time with his son during this horrendous ordeal. Reading all the stories, the prognosis does not look great but we are going to fight like hell with the Richmond Family for this smart, happy, loving little boy. There will be weekly appointments, travel, missed work, and lots of medical bills. Lynda is the type of person who never asks for anything so I am asking for her because I know they will need all the help they can get.
