My name is Jenna and I am a human person and a nurse. I started the project, Kindness Rx, where I match healthcare workers who have been nominated by friends and family with people all over the country who want to show their support by sending their healthcare worker a care package. I’ve received overwhelming support and interest, but the number of healthcare workers nominated has continued to outpace the number of people adopting healthcare workers. I’ve had several others reach out about how they can help but are unable to leave their homes except for essentials at this time. Hence, this Go Fund Me is a method for those who wish to help me fulfill my mission to continue to support and provide care packages for healthcare professionals. The funds will help me to fulfill requests for care packages myself without waiting for someone to take on the full burden of preparing a care package. This way, people will be able to donate what they can. Thank you so much for your time and attention. Please go toKindness Rx for more information about the project, and to nominate and/or adopt a healthcare provider.
Why Care Packages?
I know that right now, during the Covid-19 Pandemic, it’s a really difficult time to be a healthcare professional, no matter where you work. The month of March has been difficult, and I have been trying to find a way to help my friends who I know are on the front lines. I was inspired but another nurse online who mentioned she was starting an adopt a nurse program for her local area on Long Island. I knew after talking with her, that this was the project I wanted to work on to give back to my friends in healthcare. By starting my project, Kindness Rx, I hope to create a chain of kindness and giving between the community and those on the front lines. There is a lot of uncertainty during this time, but I do know there is a spirit of caring and community, even from a distance.
