Michael Daniel Santana, a 11-year-old boy, was diagnosed with DIPG (Brain Tumor) and the cost of treatment is extremely high.
A diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) is a tumour located in the pons (middle) of the brain stem. Glioma is a general name for any tumour that arises from the supportive tissue called glia, which help keep the neurons in place and functioning well. DIPG is a brainstem glioma. The brain stem is the bottommost portion of the brain, connecting the cerebrum with the spinal cord. The majority of brain stem tumours occur in the pons and are diffusely infiltrating (they grow amidst the nerves), and therefore cannot be surgically removed. The brain stem contains all of the incoming neurons within the spinal cord, as well as important structures involved in eye movements and in face and throat muscle control and sensation.
Michael is currently receiving treatment at the UFHealth Cancer Center (Orlando Regional Hospital) in Florida, US. We humbly request your help. This help is imminent, since Michael's condition has advanced aggressively. At the time being, and after several studies, the doctors have determined that Michael has less than a year life span. Time is decreasing and we have to affront the disease immediately. Because of it, it is imperative to provide a better quality of life for Michael. The money raised will be used for for the Michael's treatment and to cover all of his needs.
We have faith in the kindness of the hearts of those who are willing to help us. For which my children and I will be eternally grateful.
Update: It's been almost a year since Michael was diagnosed. He has responded well to the medication and all the medical process. Michael has been stable, but the fight is not over yet. We're still in need of your prayers and your donations.

Un glioma pontino intrínseco difuso (DIPG, por sus siglas en inglés) es un tumor localizado en la protuberancia (centro) del tronco encefálico. Glioma es un nombre general para cualquier tumor que surja del tejido de apoyo llamado glia, que ayuda a mantener las neuronas en su lugar y funcionar bien. DIPG es un glioma de tronco cerebral. El tronco encefálico es la parte inferior del cerebro, que conecta el cerebro con la médula espinal. La mayoría de los tumores del tronco encefálico se producen en la protuberancia y se infiltran de forma difusa (crecen en medio de los nervios) y, por lo tanto, no se pueden extirpar quirúrgicamente.
