Hi, my name is Keisha
In December 2017 I got pneumonia and never fully recovered. I have respiratory distress and congestive heart failure. I need to be on oxygen 24/7. Some of the medical procedures will not work for me and my anatomy. I have had several hospitalizations and my family and I decided that I'm much more comfortable at home as hospitals scare me. I was discharged from the hospital on palliative hospice care.
Now I take lots of medications and have to be on a machine that helps me breath. For a couple weeks I was able to borrow a portable oxygen machine. Sadly they need it back and its not something my insurance covers (Masshealth).
So I am asking my friends, family & any kindhearted person to help me and my family purchase this portable oxygen machine.
With this machine I will be able to continue to visiting family, spending time with my friends from Special Olympics, my day program and doing my favorite activities out in the community. Otherwise I will be homebound.
My mom does a great job of bringing the fun to me at home but its just not the same.
We feel lucky to be part of a community that supports each other through good times and bad. My mom and I have always enjoyed helping others, and now we are the ones asking for help.
This very costly machine will greatly improve my quality of life, my mom and I thank you for reading about our story.
