Help us HELP THE ANIMALS in the Kincade Fire that's raging in Northern California! Read on to find out how you can help!
My name is Paula Dana, and I live in Washington State. My sister-in-law, Bonnie Cromwell, owns Classroom Safari (http://classroomsafari.com/) in Petaluma, California. She and her team care for exotic animals and provide education and entertainment about the animals and their habitats.
Their animals include serval, alligator, lemur, fennec fox, silver marble fox, snake, lizard, tortoise, snapping turtle, porcupine, hedgehog, alpaca, and tegu, among others.
Bonnie and her team also rescue animals.
Located in Petaluma, they are at the very edge of the Kincade Fire in Sonoma and Napa Counties of Northern California. As of this morning (October 28, 2019) 180,000 people have been evacuated, the fire is just 5% contained, and winds with gusts up to 100 mph are in the forecast that will further fan the fire.
Bonnie and her team have been out rescuing all kinds of animals, both wild and domestic, day and night.
With the power shut off, that means using flashlights and headlights when they're out at night! They have also taken in animals that had to be evacuated from the fire areas. Fire officials estimate that the fire will not be contained for another 10 days at a minimum!
They need your help urgently!
Money is needed to help pay for food, bedding, and supplies for animals that have been rescued, as well as medicines and first aid for animals that may be burned or injured (none have, thus far, thankfully!). Money is also needed to buy fuel for vehicles that go out on rescues, as well as food for exhausted volunteers.
All the money raised will go to support animal rescue efforts and all the animals being cared for at Classroom Safari. With the fire still raging for days to come, the need will only increase.
