Kim's Road to Mrs. Colorado America

Have you ever had a goal but were too afraid of the unknown to go for it? I know I have. However, that is all about to change.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always admired the talent, intellect, beauty, and altruism of women in pageantry. Growing up, one of my biggest role models, Kelly Peters, Mrs. Tennessee America 2000, inspired me to compete and it all started from there.

With the support of my amazing husband, friends, and family, we are proud to announce that I have been selected as a finalist to compete in Mrs. Colorado America 2018! Mrs. Colorado America is a pageant for married women who are dedicated to achieving excellence through community service, self improvement, and inspiring others.

Next spring, contestants will be judged on evening gown, swimwear, and interview skills. We all have a lot of practice and knowledge to gain. However, the biggest goals are to give back to our communities, develop long term friendships, bring forth our attributes, and have fun while doing it!

My passion is volunteering for our local no-kill dog shelter in Fort Collins, The Animal House. Also, I am a registered nurse and through my career, I am able to share my love, kindness, and compassion to patients everyday. It is so rewarding! Through this title, countless lives, (humans and/or furry friends) could be changed forever!

There is no doubt that preparing for this pageant is hard work! Every contestant has their own challenges in this competition but for me dedicating time as a nurse, being a wife, taking care of a home, volunteering, gaining physical fitness, practicing interview skills, and participating in events are quite the balancing act. Expenses such as evening gowns, interview outfits, swimwear, hair/makeup, fitness, travel/lodging, and workshops are a few areas in which your contribution could make a difference!

With your help, the goal is to reach $5,000 by December 31th, 2017 to cover expenses. Any contribution, big or small, is immensely appreciated!  Even a simple, uplifting comment would be so encouraging.

The old adage, "sometimes it takes a village", is so true as we embark on this journey. I would not be successful if I did not have the love, support, and reassurance from every single one of you! I will be sure to keep you updated as I progress in my voyage thorough out the year. Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and strength. You are my motivation!
