Kim's Study Abroad Trip

Dear Family, Friends, and Donors,
My name is Kiambu (Kim) Turner, I am a third-year student at Kennesaw State University where I am working towards my Human Services degree with a focus in Case Management. My future career will be a Forensic Interviewer and a Child Counselor. As a non-traditional student, I believe that it is beneficial to my career to enrich my skill-set by participating in one or more study abroad programs. Studying abroad will elevate my understanding, as well as, my perspective on social welfare internationally. It will also enhance my cultural competence by experiencing other cultures first hand. Understanding other cultures will expand my cognitive understanding of other cultures which will better prepare me to help more young people right here in the United States. My ultimate goal is to be a voice for the voiceless, whom has been abused, neglected, and/or impoverish children.
Amazingly, I have been accepted to attend the Paris, France Summer School of Social Work. The cost of this program is $3975.10. The highlights of the program includes: 4 weeks in Paris, airline tickets, room and board, meals (two meals a day), daily lectures and group activities, work placement with a social welfare agency, transportation, museum tours, and two cultural weekend trips. The dates for this trip is from June 29th - July 29th the summer of 2018.
Because, I am a full-time student and a caregiver to my mother (who is currently living with an advance stage of pancreatic cancer), I will need financial assistance from gracious and kind folks like yourself. My school does offer scholarships for study abroad applicants, however, it does not cover the full amount of the trip. I will be eligible to receive the scholarship, however I will need friendly givers and donors to offset the rest of the cost.
Alllllll of that being said, I created this to help make my study abroad dreams become a reality. If you are able to donate, whether big or small, I am sincerely grateful for your generosity. Regardless of your donation, I appreciate that you took the time to read this all the way to the end.
