My girlfriend Kimberly and I have spent the past few years as caregivers for her dad, Roy Flanary.
Mr. Flanary spent the majority of his life taking care of others. He was a true gentleman, always soft spoken, kind, selfless and willing to put the needs of others first.
He worked hard his entire life, up into his late seventies when he finally retired from working as a quality control manager at Lockheed-Martin.
Roy was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2011 and spent the past few years of his life fighting hard to remain as healthy as possible.
Kimberly and I put our lives on hold for the past few years to devote as much time as possible to care for him so that he could remain in his home.
Kimberly loved her father dearly. He was the only remaining member of her immediate family. I also loved him dearly. Being a full-time caregiver to someone means that you get to know them on a very personal level. You become them in some ways because they can no longer do it. I'm honored that I was given that opportunity and experience.
Though we all fought hard and never gave up hope, he finally lost his battle this past Tuesday , February 6th 2018.
Mr. Flanary did not have any sort of life insurance. We are now faced with many final expenses , including funeral services and various bills that we cannot afford on our own.
We will need funds as soon as possible.
Kimberly and I will be in charge of all of his final expenses.
