<p>Kimberly Williamson has an uncommon disease called hyperparathyroidism. Your Parathyroids are 4 small glands behind your thyroid, and the function of the Parathyroids is to regulate calcium in your body. Sometimes, for unknown reasons, a benign tumor forms on one or more or the Parathyroid glands, pulling calcium from your bones 24/7. For many years doctors have dismissed symptoms and has failed Kimberly in proper testing results, all while she has been feeling bad and getting sicker and sicker. Hyperparathyroidism is a fatal disease if not treated because of the constant release of calcium in your body causing bone damage, cancer, kidney failure, heart attacks, liver failure, strokes, comas and eventually death. It's 100% fatal if left untreated. Kimberly was born with a diaphragmatic hernia with much complications as well as one kidney. Over time the calcium leaking will cause her only 1 kidney to shut down resulting in death. While not rare, Hyperparathyroidism is uncommon. For years she has lived with this disease without knowing until a new doctor was proactive. This has resulted in many falls, passing out and absent seizures, high lipid panels for "unknown reasons", blood/protien in urine, stomach issues, fatigue, severe depression and most currently, the beginning of fatty liver or liver failure. She has been accepted to a consultation with a surgeon at the Norman Parathyroid Foundation, who specializes in this very intensive surgery. A specialist is needed to not damage vocal cords etc. Thyroid issues will be taken care of as well. Insurance covers surgery but we are asking for any donation to help with the consultation fee that Insurance doesn't cover or help with other medical expenses.With the surgery its 100% curable as to remove the tumor and allow the body to produce normal hormones to regulate calcium and heal.
