Kim is a loving mother of 2 boys and wife. Kim has the biggest heart and would give the shirt off her back if she come across someone who needed it. Kim is a hospice nurse and has given tirelessly to her patients, and families. She has been dealing with Cancer for over 5 years. Kim has gone through multiple biopsies, a hysterectomy, and 2 different types of Chemotherapy to get her where she is today.
Kim is fighting Breast Cancer for the second time. She is BRCA 2 gene positive. Lynparza was just FDA approved in January 2018. It is different than a chemotherapy as it is an immuno-modulator. It works by destroying the cells and changing the chemical makeup so the cells cannot replicate. Kim has had success with the 1st round, unfortunately due to the medication just being released by the FDA; the insurance refused to cover the medication which Kim paid out of pocket for by selling personal property, and draining the bank account. Because of the success of the first round of medication the insurance was agreeable to cover 75% of the cost of the medication after she pays an additional $15,000 by December.
Kim and her family have been trying every avenue to raise the money without asking others for help. But due to the immediate need and great amount needed. I as a friend am asking others to help.
Kim's Dr's are hopeful that with a year of this medication it could save her from having to have a bilateral mastectomy.
