We are a group of parents and surrogates working to raise money to kill South Dakota House Bill 1096 in this year's legislative session. This bill would prohibit commercial surrogacy contracts and provide a penalty for facilitating a commercial surrogacy in South Dakota.
Parents and Surrogates across this great state have formed a coalition to defeat this family-destroying bill. Funds are badly needed IMMEDIATELY to be used in lobbying efforts against this legislation. If passed, this bill will shut the door for cancer survivors, infertile couples, LGBT couples who wish to build a family, those with serious medical conditions that make pregnancy dangerous, women with genetic disorders that affect their reproductive systems, and those who have suffered recurrent miscarriages or pregnancy complications. The fact is, one in eight couples have trouble conceiving or carrying a pregnancy, and surrogacy opens the door for these people to become parents.
